Chinese storytelling contest registration starts now! 09/29/2023 - 7:44pm

Registration for the 2023-2024 Chinese School Storytelling Contest is now open!

This year, we have expanded participation to include all Chinese school students, from preschool, kindergarten, CSL, 1st to 9th grades, and even Chinese AP students.

Purpose: The primary objectives of the Chinese Storytelling Contest are to cultivate students’ interest in learning the Chinese language and culture, enhance their proficiency in delivering oral presentations in Chinese, and enable them to express themselves fluently and accurately in Chinese.

Participants: This contest is open to students in Chinese schools. If you wish to participate, please register with your class teacher . The contest will feature three groups:

1. Chinese Preschool through 2nd Grade, CSL classes
2. Chinese 4th Grade through 5th Grade classes
3. Chinese 6th Grade & Above classes

Competition Date: November 12, 2023 (Sunday)
Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Location: Auditorium, Shaker Middle School, 475 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110

Suggested Topics: We encourage participants to choose short Chinese culture-related stories, such as Chinese idiom stories, short Chinese history tales, Chinese riddles, Chinese ancient poems or children’s folk songs (for young students), or lessons learned from their classes. Each class is advised to select up to 4 stories for presentation, with a maximum presentation time of 4 minutes per story.

Participation Registration Deadline: October 29, 2023, at 11:50 PM.

《2023-2024 中文学校故事会比赛》

一年一度的中文学校故事会比赛即将拉开序幕,你准备好了吗?

历届比赛只限中文五年级班及以下学生参加，今年比赛将改为面对中文学校所有学生，中文幼儿学前班，CSL，1年级到9年级，中文AP学生均可报名参加。

时间:2023 年11 月12 日星期天 1:00PM – 4:00PM

地点: Shaker Middle School, 475 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110

宗旨:培养和激发广大学生学习汉语和中国文化的兴趣, 提高中文口语表达能力。

参赛资格: 中文学校在校学生。 参赛者请向所在班老师报名。将分为以下三组展开比赛：

中文学前幼儿班至二年级及CSL
中文三年级至五年级
中文六年级及以上

故事题材:故事必须与中国文化有关, 包括成语故事,历史故事,谜语故事,古代诗歌故事,以及童谣故事等。也可以挑选课堂上学到的故事。

每班推选 4 个故事参赛,可以按个人, 小组, 或者集体(班级)报名。每个故事时间限制在4分钟以内。

报名截止时间为:2023 年10 月29 日 11:59PM

（2）如果您感兴趣成为您孩子班上的家长代表(homeroom parent),请联系班级老师。家长代表可以获得$40PTA退款。

（3）请家长和学生维护好中文学校设施，不要随意乱挪用教室设施及物品，保持教室及卫生间的清洁卫生。

（4）10/15 学校举行Fire Drill,具体事项随后通知。

（5）一年一度的中文讲故事比赛将于11/12/23 1:00pm 在中文学校大礼堂举办，中文幼儿班至AP中文班的学生都可报名， 请想报名参加的学生们开始准备了！具体报名事项另行通知。

（6）附件是中文学校校历，学校节假日和活动一目了然。

(2) If you are interested in becoming a homeroom parent in your child's class, please contact the class teacher. Homeroom parents can receive a $40 PTA refund.

(3) Parents and students are not allowed to use classroom equipment without permission. if you move the chairs during the class, please put them back where they are., Please keep classrooms and bathrooms clean.

(4) The school will hold a Fire Drill on 10/15. Details will be announced later.

(5) The annual Chinese storytelling competition will be held at 1:00 p.m. on 11/12/23 in the auditorium of the Chinese school. Students from Chinese Preschool to AP Chinese classes are welcome to register. Details will be announced soon.
