中文学校的家长们，你们好！

周末中文学校是本学年最后一次课，切记上午10点上课。

体育馆从上午开放到下午学校结束。篮球队、羽毛球队的家长们可以过把瘾，别忘了休息期间到大礼堂观摩学生汇报演出，捧个场、喝个彩。

1．      期末安排
12月20日最后一次课以及汇报演出的日程安排已经就绪，详细请参看附送的周日安排。
我们共有21个节目。今年还新添了一个中文拼字比赛。同学们精心排练，为的就是向父母亲们展示自己一年来努力的成果，希望大家欣赏之余，给予最热烈的掌声。

另外提醒大家，第一排座位是预留给老师以及获奖人员的，学生按班级坐在中间大区，请家长们在两边入座，以方便学生登台表演。

2.      青少年义工团活动
我们的青少年义工团员们将会进行一年一度的Food Drive或“冬令救济”活动。“冬令救济”主要目的是捐助、收集、分发可以存储的食物（主要是罐头食品）以帮助社区无家可归的人们渡过严冬。这是鼓励孩子们奉献爱心的一次很好的机会，让他们参与到具体的活动中来，培养责任心以及义务感，同时也是一次很好的与别人交流、协作的机会，锻炼他们的独立能力。

现在已有6个义工团员加入。根据以往经验，我们还需要至少四、五个学生才能完成当天分配的任务。每年的“冬令救济”活动是华社青少年义工团的一次主要活动，代表了华人社区参与公共活动， 请大家积极响应。具体时间地点如下：

3.      理事会
上个星期的学校理事会主要讨论了本学年学校的三个重要工作方向：中文继承语教学大纲增改议题；学费及待遇；华社会员费征收制度。这三项议题主要由我、副校长单英辉、理事会主席孙旭峰分别牵头负责。如果你有什么建议、疑问，请与相关负责人联系。理事会成员还建议从本学年开始把每次理事会讨论的话题及内容上载到学校网页上，以方便大家查看、询问。

Dear Chinese School Families,

This Sunday will be the last day of Chinese School for the fall semester. I’d like to remind you that the class starts 10AM in the morning and there will be no culture class. The gyms will be available from 10AM till end of school. What I ask of you is simple: enjoy the day and have some fun, but stay safe and pick up your garbage.

1.      Last Day of School and Year End Celebration Party
The agenda for the celebration party is attached. We have 21 programs to be performed by our students with a new Chinese word contest in the end. I hope you will enjoy the show. Since we have more programs than before, we need to start the ceremony promptly at 12:45PM.

Please follow the on-site guide for auditorium seating. The first row of seats is reserved for teachers, award winners. The center session is reserved for students and their teachers. The left and right sessions are for parents. This way students can come to and from stage smoothly.

2.      Youth Team Volunteer Activity on 12/20th at Regional Food Bank of Northeastern
Food drive is a traditional event the Chinese School Youth Team has been participating for many years. This year is no exception. Two hours of volunteering work at food bank is an important part of effort in fight against hunger in the local community. During the holiday season, it will mean a lot to help prepare a home cocked meal for the people in need and your generous help will be much appreciated.

Currently we have about 6 students signed up for this event. We need at least a few more to have enough hands for this Sunday. Please encourage your kid to participate in this annual fun and meaningful food drive event.

3.      Council meeting
During last week’s council meeting, the members have discussed three key initiatives the school admin team has been working on based on feedback collected over the past year. One is to review and update language class curriculum (lead by myself). Second is to review school financials on tuition, compensation, and program expenses (lead by VP Yinghui Shan). Third is to review the mandatory CCC membership requirement (lead
by council chair Xufeng Sun). We are taking steps to move the council meeting minutes online so everyone has a clear view of what has been discussed in these meeting. If you have any concerns, questions or want to know more, please feel free to reach out to me or council chair Xufeng Sun.

中文学校的各位家长、老师，你们好，

节日的脚步越来越近，期末汇报演出在各处上演，

我猜是为了让家长们放心，学区税没有白花，孩子们在学校可是学了三头六臂的本领。我们的中文学校也不例外，节目编排正在紧张的制作中。还没有报名的班级，抓紧向王洁老师报名。

青少年义工团策划于12月18日在Shaker Pointe（离中文学校非常近）举行一次圣诞慰老音乐会。去年的表演受到了热烈的欢迎。希望大家抓紧时间报名，联系人Ryan Guo (rguo98@gmail.com), Jeffrey Shen (jeffshen321@yahoo.com)。今年的具体时间地点如下：

Dear Chinese School Families,

One thing that you are going to miss in this holiday season is winter. It is probably a good thing for most of us. Many of you are probably in the count-down mode, whether for holiday shopping or celebration. It is also a season to show your appreciation for our teachers’ commitment, time and effort. Home parents of each class can coordinate and collect gift contributions.

Before you can put away the books, there are still a few things that need your attention.

1.      Youth Team Volunteer Activity on Dec. 18th Friday
We need volunteers to join the Youth Team activity scheduled on Friday Dec. 18th 7PM. It is a concert to be performed at Shaker Pointe, a senior housing just a few minutes away from Chinese School. The residents at Shaker Pointe loved the performance and interactions of last year so much that they want you guys to come back for another visit. Please sign up and it is a great chance to share your holiday spirit with people having highest
regard of your musical talent.

Since a head count is needed for better arrangement, please send a note to Ryan (rguo98@gmail.com) or Jeffrey (jeffshen321@yahoo.com) if you intend to join.

2.      Council meeting
The school will conduct its second council meeting this Sunday primarily to discuss a few school wide initiatives (curriculum revision, tuition and compensation etc). The meeting is planned to be held at C206 during the third class. If you have any questions, please stop by before or afterwards.

中文学校的各位家长、老师，你们好，

圣诞树装饰起来的时候，也是我们秋学期快要结束的时间。

连这个周末，我们还有三次课。本学期最后一天是12月20日。期末的一些安排以下：

12月20日最后一次课按惯例是早上10点开课到11:30左右结束。中午是各个班级的聚餐。一到五年级各个班级在餐厅有预留桌位。准备聚餐的班级，请将实到人数报给家长会主席徐健(jxuonline@gmail.com)，以便预留足够的桌子。六到九年级需向家长会主席徐健联系申请。学校提供餐具及一大瓶水。午餐后的安排从12:45PM开始，包括校况简介、颁奖仪式、学生表演等等。请一到五年级的班级将要表演的节目尽快交给张晓清副校长。

Dear Chinese School Families,

Right after the Thanksgiving weekend, the neighborhood has been enlightened with flickering Christmas lights. I guess the holiday season has just begun. I used to drive my kids around after dinner in various part of the town to see all kinds of decorative lights. It was one of the fun things to do for the family without much cost.

We have only three classes left for this semester. The school has started the preparation for our usual year-end celebration. Our last day of school is on December 20th. As a tradition, there will be a New Year celebration party held at the auditorium. School on the last day starts from 10AM and ends by 11:30AM. There will be no culture class on last day of school. Award ceremony and celebration will begin around 12:45PM.

Table reservation: for classes having lunch on Dec. 20th in cafe, teachers or home parents should report head counts of your classes to PTA Chair Jian Xu (jxuonline@gmail.com) so enough tables can be reserved for use.

Programs: The Vice Principal Xiaoqing Zhang has already begun to collect list of programs to be performed by our students up to 5th grade. The final program agenda will be available to you once it is finalized.

中文学校的各位家长、老师，你们好，

要不是临近感恩节，简直可以忘记现在到了初冬。

去年这个时候已经下过一两场雪，而今年的第一场雪还没有出现在预报中。喜欢户外活动的可以再享受几周额外的好天气了。

今年的故事会获奖名单已经确定，见附件。

这个周末是学校统一的拍照日。大家提醒自己的孩子，不一定要盛装上学，可是一定记得 带上最灿烂的笑容。

2015-2016年度奖学金申请11月22日截止。请将申请材料递交给张晓清副校长。这次奖学金评审委员会由张晓清副校长任主席，外加两名老师、两名家长会代表。评审结果会在期末总结大会上宣布。

这个周末我放假。顺便通知下个周末庆祝感恩节学校停课。

Dear Chinese School Families,

The story telling winners have been announced. Please refer to the attached list for details. Award certificates will be available this weekend at the school desk. Vice Principal Yinghui Shan will hand out the certificates and trophies.

This weekend is also the school picture day. Have your kids pick their favorite dress for school. A moment of their school day will be captured by the professional photographers and rest for ever in the school year book.

Last reminder to the senior students that the deadline for scholarship application is this weekend Nov. 22nd. Please submit your application to Vice Principal Xiaoqing Zhang. Make sure you go through the online scholarship application policy to include all the necessary material to avoid delay.

I will be out of town this weekend. There is no school on the Thanksgiving weekend.

中文学校的各位家长、老师，你们好，

星期五发生在巴黎的恐怖袭击事件让人难以置信。

一个普通的周五在宁静中开始，却在枪林弹雨中结束，许多无辜的生命随之消失。在震惊、悲痛之间，让我们祈福他们的家人度过这个难关。

学校的安全是全体工作人员的第一要务。我再次提醒大家从食堂边的校门进入学校，不要使用其他校门。更不能故意卡住校门使之不能关闭以方便自己出入，或是打开锁住的校门让外边的人进来。

上个周末的故事会盛况空前，共有50多个节目把三个多小时的时间安排得满满的。感谢各位家长以及青年义工团员在会场的协助，让故事会顺利、准时的完成。在这里还有感谢每一位老师，是你们辛勤的培育，让孩子们不怯场，口齿流利，把一个个故事讲述的生动活泼。故事会获奖名单将于下个星期公布。

Dear Chinese School Families,

As I started to write the weekly update, I can’t help but think of what has happened in Paris on Friday,
which is totally unbelievable. Gapped by an ocean as wide as Atlantic, we can still feel the shocking wave. I am deeply sorrowed by the lives lost in this tragedy and prayers go to all the families.

I also want to bring safety and security of the school to your attention. The school staff team has been trying best to maintain a safe environment for our kids. In the meantime, it is everyone’s responsibility to follow the school rules. No entrance to school facility other than the cafeteria door should be observed.

Last weekend we did not have school. Instead, many of us gathered at CCC for the annual story telling event. Being there or not, you can always review the pictures uploaded on CCC gallery  at https://www.flickr.com/photos/ccc_albany/albums/72157660422088169. We had more than fifty programs packed in three and half hours. I hope your kids enjoyed the time on “stage” and liked the award gifts. We doubled the award budget so the laughter got to double too. Award list will be announced next week.

The scholarship committee will be headed by VP Xiaoqing Zhang and consists of two teachers and two PTA members.
