Eric Berman is a New York City native and native English speaker who has been learning Mandarin since 2015. In 2012 he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and in 2016 he earned his TESOL teaching certificate from SUNY Westchester Community College. As an ESL teacher, he has several years of experience using bilingual instruction to teach English to Chinese speakers. He has taught students of various ages, from pre-K students to senior citizens. He also has several years of experience in translation, having worked on many Chinese to English translation projects over the years, both as part of a team and individually.
Through learning Mandarin, Eric discovered his passion for language learning. In addition to being fluent in Mandarin, he is proficient in Spanish and is currently a beginner in Japanese and Cantonese. After discovering the work of the eight time world memory champion Dominic O’Brien, he also became interested in studying and practicing memory techniques, especially the memory palace method. He is excited about sharing these powerful memory methods with learners of all ages.
