中文学校一周简讯 1/21/2016

中文学校的家长们，你们好！

这个周末美东预报有大雪。Albany地区在降雪区边缘。根据现在的天气报道，我们有可能不会受影响。学校将紧密跟踪天气预报，如果有变化，我们有可能会取消这个周末的课程安排。星期六或星期天早上我将会再次和大家确认是否有课。请大家关注学校发出的通知。

本学期有两个中文考试项目，SAT中文模拟考试和YCT 4级考试。应考试中心要求，报名截止日期提前到这个周末1月24日。相关老师已经在做报名工作，请高年级家长们及时报名。

上个学期末新年汇报演出的压轴戏是汉字拼词比赛。参加比赛的选手云集，由于时间限制，只能举行低年级的比赛。高年级的比赛挪到这个学期，现定于3月13日下午在华社举行，具体活动安排将不久通知大家。王洁老师作为拼词比赛的组织者，花了大量时间准备比赛题目，比赛用品，以及安排比赛流程。在这里我们对她的付出致以真诚的感谢。

Dear Chinese School Families,

It has been forecast that a major snow storm will hit the north eastern region this weekend. At this point Albany region is forecast to dodge the storm but we will keep monitoring the weather forecast. Should it be necessary, we may choose to cancel this Sunday’s classes. I will update you on Saturday or Sunday morning again. Please check closely communications from school this weekend.

The registration deadline for SAT II Chinese Mock test and YCT level-4 test is pulled forward to this coming Sunday 1/24 due to request of test centers. Teachers of 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th grades have been collecting registrations. Please make sure your kids sign up if they plan to take one of the exams.

We had a Chinese spelling bee competition during the New Year celebration last semester. It was a fun and engaging event to wrap up our show with a high note. A big thank-you goes to Jie Wang who had spent many hours in preparing the competition questions, logistics, and organized it well under a tight time constraint. The winner list is attached. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you all for participating this event. The second part of the spelling bee will be held on March 13th afternoon at CCC. Event details will be announced once they are finalized. But place a holder in your calendar now.
